Jacqui Calloway
“As Zoe, Jacqui Calloway embodies the spirit of youthful activism – confident, ever-ready to take a stand, to speak out....[she] conveys clearly the character's boldness and strength of will, but at times that tips over into willfulness and impatience, so Calloway shows us how Zoe will overreach or betray her own interests.” - Robert Faires, Austin Chronicle, Review of The Niceties.

Educator
As an educator, my interests are devised theatre, contemporary theatre, and theatre for social justice. I've taught several courses at Texas State University, and have been a faculty member of The Actor's School (Austin Community College Continuing Education) since Fall 2022. There, I particularly enjoy helping actors with the business of sustaining a career - to that end, I've developed Commercial Audition and Tools of the Trade classes.
This will be my second year co-directing the Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble, a group of high school artists and activists who write and perform original plays to prevent healthy relationships. I assistant directed The VORTEX's 2024 Summer Youth Production of Thrive, Or What You Will, and will direct Jinkies! in Summer 2025. I recently enjoyed serving as an artist mentor for Ground Floor Theatre's inaugural Queer Camp for teens.
I also have a background at the elementary level. I taught 3rd grade, and I have a special place in my heart for the Paramount Story Wranglers, where I've been a teaching artist and ensemble member since 2021.
